Infrastructure
The Department of Agronomy has four training and seminar rooms equipped with audiovisual equipment, a seminar room and five research and development laboratories. The basic equipment of the training rooms are independent workstations equipped with the necessary small laboratory equipment and microscopes. Research laboratories are equipped with:
- Richards apparatus – Pressure Plate Extractor by Soil Moisture Equipment Corp. with a low-pressure chamber and a high-pressure chamber for determining water available and inaccessible to plants,
- Thela Kit field soil moisture meter and the TDR Easy Test field soil moisture, temperature and salinity meter,
- Infiltromet DualHead (SATURO) for measuring the hydraulic conductivity of soil in the field.
- a probe for measuring soil compactness in the field of Eijkelkamp,
- Kjeltac nitrogen distillation apparatus,
- analyzer for determining the content of starch, protein, gluten, seed and grain moisture,
- Minolta SPAD chlorophyllometer to assess the relative content of chlorophyll in plant leaves,
- equipment for determining pF curves (strength of water-soil bonding),
- GPS receivers for field research,
- automatic tractor steering system – Geosteer by AgLeader, Ames, USA,
- GreenSeeker active optical sensors for measuring the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index (NDVI), from Trimble Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, USA,
- a set of active OptRx sensors for continuous measurement of the Normalized Differential Vegetation Index (NDVI) (AgLeader, Ames, USA),
- AccuHarvest analyzer for the evaluation of grain and seed quality in a continuous mode, by Zeltex Inc., Hagerstown, MD, USA, mounted on a combine,
- yield mapping system (AgLeader, Ames, USA), mounted on the combine,
- Phantom 4 Multispectral drone, by DJI, ShenzhenDajiangBaiwang Technology Co., Ltd., China, for measuring plant indicators,
- MSP-3 mobile platform from Veris Technologies, Salina, USA, for continuous recording of soil properties: electrical conductivity, reaction and organic matter content, scanners for examining root systems.
