Silicon foliar application as an innovative method of reducing abiotic and biotic stresses in sugar beet cultivation
Scope of research:
Silicon foliar application as an innovative method of reducing abiotic and biotic stresses in sugar beet cultivation

Currently conducted research: Influence of various variants of silicon foliar application on the yield and technological quality of sugar beet roots
Research and expert opinions performed:
From 2010 Research is conducted on the effect of foliar application of silicon on the yield and technological quality of sugar beet roots. The experimental results so far indicate the possibility of a significant increase in the biological and technological yield of sugar as a result of the increase in the yield of roots caused by the use of products containing this element. At the same time, no deterioration of the technological quality of the roots (sugar and molasses-forming components) was observed. Particularly favorable effects are observed under conditions unfavorable for plant growth and development (e.g. during drought). Currently, research is underway to determine the optimal dates of silicon application and the number of treatments in sugar beet cultivation.
