  • Research directions

    The main directions of research carried out at the Station based on many years of static fertilization experience:

    • development of new and modification of the existing needs for fertilization of unexplored species and / or varieties,
    • assessment of the impact of the degree of acidification and soil abundance in basic nutrients on the quality characteristics of plants,
    • assessment of the long-term impact of various fertilization systems on soil and plants,
    • assessment of the impact of mineral and organic fertilization on yielding, chemical composition and quality characteristics of various species of agricultural plants and their varieties,
    • assessment of the productivity of plants grown in rotation or monoculture depending on differentiated fertilization,
    • assessment of the effectiveness of fertilization of agricultural and fruit plants,
    • development or refinement of the balance of individual nutrients over the years,
    • assessment of the ecological effects of diversified soil acidification or unsustainable mineral fertilization,
    • dynamics of changes in soil nutrient content based on the analysis of soil samples collected in the “sample bank”,
    • development of simulation models of prospective changes in soil fertility and crop yielding on a specific soil.

    Other research directions carried out at the Station:

    • ways to increase the effectiveness of organic fertilizers,
    • assessment of suitability for fertilization of various raw materials and new mineral fertilizers,
    • fertilization techniques and technologies,
    • heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in agricultural ecosystems,
    • fertilizing waste utilization,
    • creating a balance of elements in agricultural agro-systems,
    • regeneration of soils heavily depleted of available forms of nutrients.
  • Projects

    Domestic and international projects implemented at WSD:

    1.INSPIRATION− “Managing soil and groundwater impacts from agriculture for sustainable intensification” 2016-2019 The project is implemented under the Horizon 2020 program, MSCA-ITN-2015-ETN – Maria Skłodowska-Curie competition, grant agreement No 675120. The program is implemented by the University of Sheffield (UK), EAWAG (Switzerland), University of Wageningen (Netherlands), Teagasc (Ireland), TE Laboratories Limited (Ireland), Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ) (Germany), IWW- Beratung GMBH (Germany), University of Liège (Belgium), Flemish Institute for Technological Research (Belgium), Geolys SPRL (Belgium) and the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology together with the Faculty of Agriculture and Biology of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) as a partner (dr hab. Ewa Szara, an employee of Agricultural Chemistry).

    2. Intensify production, transform biomass to energy and novel goods and protect soils in Europe “Implementation period 1.04.2016-31.03.2019. a project coordinated by the Norwegians, in which the task manager was prof. Wiesław Szulc was carried out by employees of agricultural chemistry next to WSD Skierniewice there are experimental objects from the following centers: NIBIO (Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research), Særheim, Norway, Helmholtz Zentrum Muenchen GmbH, Munich, Germany, INRA (National Institute of Agronomic Research), Bordeaux, France , CIEMAT (Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas), Madrid, Spain, Martlhof am Tegernsee, Gmund-Ostin, Germany, Universita ‘degli Studi di Parma, Parma, Italy

    3.Financed by the ERA-NET Bioenergy program. Cradle to cattle farming. Implementation 2016-2019 The project was implemented as part of a consortium coordinated by the Dutch company Cornelissen Consulting Services BV (CCS), and partners with ProfiNutrients from the Netherlands, Center for Ecology and Hydrology from Great Britain, Institute of New Syntheses Chemicznych (INS) from Puławy and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), represented by dr hab.
